Cardamine hirsuta- Hoary Bittercress
This plant has tender leaves that look similar to watercress. The flavor reminds me of watercress, but milder.
Stellaria Media- Chickweed. It is abundant right now. I love the nutty, green pea-like flavor of the leaves and the crunchy texture of the stalk.
Allium vineale- Field Garlic. Grows all over the place, hence the name. I love to cut the tops off and use in place of chives.
Don't forget the bulbs of field garlic! They are edible too.
Pinus virginiana= Virginia Pine. I love using infusing the citrusy, piney fragrance of the needles in liquiuds.

These are wild edibles that are in season now.
Virginia pine is on season now. Use their needles for their citrusy, piney fragrance.
It's a really good year for wild pears.
Curly Dock- It is the perfect time of the year for this plant. The leaves have a slight sourness and a texture like spinach.
Chickweed is starting to come back! I love the crunchy texture and the raw green pea flavor of the leaves and stem.
It's a fantastic year for butternuts!
Black walnuts are starting to drop!
Wild persimmons are dropping now.
Field garlic is starting to pop up. This will be around till late spring.
